2018 Valley Design Employee Sharing Tree

  • Post category:Company News

For the past 12 years, Valley Design’s Employee Sharing Tree has made donations to Christmas in Fillmore County and the Fillmore County Food Shelf. Both programs assist families in Fillmore County through the donation of Christmas gifts for children and food for those in need.

This year, the Sharing Tree kicked off with a brand-new event – a Pumpkin Carving Contest on Halloween. Employees were offered the chance to show off their carving skills as well as the opportunity to sponsor kids through Christmas in Fillmore County. The Pumpkin Carving Contest produced 13 very creative pumpkins and the sponsorship of 28 kids. Valley hopes to double the amount of pumpkins and kid sponsorships next year.

Casey Bates, Valley Design Paint Line Supervisor, was voted Most Creative pumpkin carver.  Casey was excited to donate his prize of a gift card to the Sharing Tree, sponsoring a child in Christmas in Fillmore County.

Next up for the Employee Sharing Tree was the Thanksgiving employee dinner. This event also gave employees the opportunity to donate canned foods for the Fillmore County Food Shelf. The week before the Sharing Tree delivery day, employees were invited to wear ugly Christmas sweaters. After a fun group photo and Christmas cookies, Valley Design staff voted Tyler Chase, warehouse employee, as the winner with the UGLIEST sweater. Tyler also donated his winnings back to the Sharing Tree program.

On December 10th, Valley Design employees delivered this year’s donations (Valley Design DOUBLES the employee contributions!) to both Christmas in Fillmore County and the Fillmore County Food Shelf. The first stop was Christmas in Fillmore County where not only gifts for the sponsored kids were delivered, but also additional toys, stuffed animals, coats, mittens and other items. Valley Design’s Employee Sharing Tree also presented Christmas in Fillmore County with over 200 gift cards totaling more than $5,000. Next, at the Fillmore County Food Shelf, employees unloaded 5,785 pounds of food along with a cash donation of $4,000.

This year, Valley was grateful to partner with Costco Wholesale. Not only was some of the food for the Fillmore County Food Shelf purchased at the wholesale chain, Costco generously donated numerous toys to Christmas in Fillmore County.

Looking ahead to 2019, Valley Design employees wish you a blessed and healthy 2019.
