Women make up nearly half of the U.S. workforce—about 47%—but in the historically male-dominated manufacturing industry, that number drops to just 30%. However, the tides are shifting. At Valley Design, we’re proud of the women filling key roles, from customer service to the factory floor.

Women make up nearly 50% of our staff. It’s been a rewarding experience to see how women in manufacturing are transforming our workplace and driving innovation across all departments with the exceptional talent they bring.

Women in Every Role at Valley Design

At Valley Design, women play a crucial role in nearly every department. From customer service and order entry to fabrication, paint lines, and assembly, women’s expertise and dedication are evident in every stage.

For instance, our customer service team is a strong group of women who handle everything from answering product-related questions to processing incoming purchase orders. Their attention to detail and customer-focused approach ensures that our clients receive top-notch service.

On the manufacturing floor, women contribute significantly to production. In our fabrication area, women operate saws and prepare raw materials, ensuring precision in every cut. On the paint lines, women prep, hang, and paint raw parts, maintaining the high-quality standards that Valley Design is known for.

One area where women truly excel is in our quality control teams. The majority of our quality inspectors are women who meticulously check parts for accuracy, ensuring that they meet our high standards for quality. Their eye for detail is vital to maintaining consistent product quality, helping to solidify our reputation for excellence.

Women in Leadership Roles

Women are also taking on leadership positions in manufacturing. Our Operations Planning Manager oversees the paint lines and assembly teams, ensuring operations run smoothly and projects are completed on time and to the highest standards. Her leadership is instrumental in maintaining quality and efficiency, demonstrating the critical role women can play in shaping the future of manufacturing.

Several women on our team have been with Valley Design for over 20 years, underscoring not only their expertise but also their loyalty to the company. Their long tenure speaks to the inclusive culture we’ve fostered, where women in manufacturing are able to thrive and make lasting contributions.

Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Manufacturing

At Valley Design, we don’t just focus on empowering women in our current workforce—we’re also passionate about fostering the next generation of women in manufacturing by welcoming female students as part of our summer support team. Female students are working alongside our engineers and experienced staff, gaining hands-on experience that will be invaluable as they continue their studies and begin careers.

By supporting women in the workforce and encouraging the next generation of talent, we can continue to push boundaries and break down barriers in this historically male-dominated field.

As more women enter manufacturing, we’re confident the industry will continue to evolve. The future is bright for women in manufacturing, and we’re eager to see how they will continue to drive change and innovation.
