At Valley Design, we are proud of the dedicated individuals that we get to call our employees. Allow us to introduce you to a new face that makes the work we do possible: our Design Manufacturing Engineer, Jamie Graves.
As someone who is always looking to push himself and learn new skills, Jamie quickly found himself drawn to the engineering field.
“Engineering is a creative profession,” explained Jamie. “The freedom it gives you to explore, invent, discover, and create something new is what sparked my excitement to become one.”
After getting his Associate’s degree focused in Mechanical Drafting & Design CAD/CADD from Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical, Jamie starting working in the electrical and electronic engineering industry, as well as the light industry, where he honed his product development skills. From there, he started looking for his next opportunity to grow and challenge himself professionally, which led him to Valley Design.
Since starting at Valley Design in October of 2023, Jamie has been learning our company’s process and the furniture market. As our Design Manufacturing Engineer, Jamie plays a key role in creating new products. From developing the product design to assisting our manufacturing team as they create an initial prototype to collaborating with our sales team, he is there working with the Valley Design team throughout the whole process to help create the best possible products.
One of Jamie’s favorite parts of the job is being able to work closely with other members of the Valley Design team, who are “so talented, creative, and helpful. It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with them.”
Outside of work, you can find Jamie spending time with his friends and family, out on the golf course, or traveling near and far for his favorite hobby – playing darts. Not only does Jamie participate in local dart leagues and online tournaments, but he has also traveled to Vegas and Kansas City, Missouri for NDA and TOC tournaments.
While there is no doubt that he is an incredibly skilled addition to the Valley Design team, it is his unwavering positivity that makes Jamie one of a kind. As a cancer survivor, Jamie understands the importance of living life to the fullest. This motivates him to make the most of every opportunity in his personal life and at Valley Design.
After all, as Jamie says, “you never know what the next day will bring, so always live in the moment, stay positive, and do what makes you happy.”
